Merellinen Sauvo on idyllinen kunta Varsinais-Suomen etelärannikolla, reilun 30 kilometrin päässä Turusta. Sauvolle ominaista on rikas ja vivahteikas luonto sekä toimivat lähipalvelut. Yhteisöllisyys on sauvolaisille tärkeää ja omaleimaisilla asuinalueilla on aktiivista yhdistystoimintaa.

Kotoisaa asumista erinomaisten yhteyksien varrella

Sauvo on pieni ja kotoisa, noin 3000 asukkaan kunta Varsinais-Suomessa. Sauvon luonto on vaikuttava, sillä se sijaitsee Paimionlahden ja Halikonlahden välisellä kannaksella. Sauvossa on peräti 140 kilometriä rantaviivaa ja saaristosta tuttuja kallioisia mäkiä, joilta ihailla maisemia.

Hyvien liikenneyhteyksien Sauvosta on helppo hurauttaa sekä useisiin kaupunkeihin että saaristolomalle. Sauvon naapurikuntia ovat Paimio ja Salo sekä merelliset Kemiönsaari, Kaarina ja Parainen. Autolla matka suuremman kaupungin sykkeeseen Turkuun sujuu jouhevasti reilussa puolessa tunnissa E18-moottoritietä pitkin. Myös Kemiönsaaren suuntaan pääsee kätevästi suoraa tietä Sauvon keskustasta. Matkat taittuvat mukavasti myös julkisilla, jotka kulkevat monta kertaa päivässä Turun ja Kemiönsaaren suuntiin.

Sauvo kätkee sisäänsä pitkän historian

Sauvon juuret ulottuvat pitkälle menneisyyteen. Ensimmäiset kirjalliset merkinnät Sauvosta ovat jo 1300-luvulta, jolloin Turun tuomiokirkon Mustassa kirjassa mainitaan Sauvon kirkkoherran testamentanneen Turun tuomiokirkolle maatilan. Nykyisin Sauvon historiaa voi tarkastella esimerkiksi kunnan näyttävässä keskiaikaisessa harmaakivikirkossa, jossa on suuri kokoelma aatelissukujen ajoista muistuttavia puisia hautavaakunoita.

Sauvo sopii yrittäjille

Sauvossa paikallinen yrittäjyys kukoistaa ja kunta tarjoaakin loistavan maaperän oman elinkeinon harjoittamiseen. Siksipä sauvolaisista jopa noin joka kymmenes on yrittäjä. Sauvossa on monenlaisia yrityksiä, joista suuri osa liittyy maatalouteen. Joukosta löytyy myös ravintola- ja matkailupalveluita kuin myös tieto- ja asiantuntijayrityksiä.

Omakotitaloasujilla on hyvät oltavat

Rauhallisesta omakotitaloasumisesta haaveileville Sauvo on oivallinen valinta, sillä kunnassa on kaavoitettuna tontteja jokaiseen makuun. Tontit meren läheisyydessä ja metsätontit ovat hinnaltaan huokeita verrattuna monien suurempien paikkakuntien hintoihin. Edullisten hintojen lisäksi Sauvossa yhteistyö esimerkiksi lupa-asioiden parissa sujuu notkeasti.

Lapset viihtyvät uudistetussa päiväkodissa ja koulussa

Uusissa tiloissa toimiva viihtyisä päiväkoti Hakkiskoto sijaitsee keskustan tuntumassa hyvien kulkuyhteyksien varrella. Luonto on lähellä ja päiväkotilapset käyvätkin säännöllisesti retkillä ja leikkimässä luonnon helmassa. Pienet ryhmäkoot mahdollistavat kodinomaisen ja kiireettömän päivähoidon, ja pienimmille kuntalaisille on tarjolla myös monenlaisia harrastusmahdollisuuksia aina vauvasirkuksesta muskariin.

Sauvon peruskorjattu ja moderni koulukeskus valmistui vuonna 2020 ja tarjoaa lapsille yhtenäisen koulupolun aina esikoulusta yhdeksänteen luokkaan saakka. Lähin lukio löytyy kätevästi naapurikunnasta Paimiosta. Yhtenäiskoulun oppilaiden viihtyvyyden ja laadukkaan opetuksen takaavat pienet ryhmäkoot, hyvä yhteishenki sekä välittävä ilmapiiri. Sauvosta löytyy myös nuorisotalo sekä nuorisovaltuusto, jonka kautta nuoret voivat osallistua päätöksentekoon.

Harrastuksia mereltä maalle

Merellisen Sauvon alueelta löytyy kaksi Sauvon suosituimmista uimarannoista, Marjaniemi ja Sarapisto. Marjaniemi on paikallisten oma kesäkeidas, jossa sijaitsee myös grillauspaikka. Sarapiston leirintäalue puolestaan houkuttelee myös ulkopaikkakuntalaisia. Sekä Sarapistosta että Marjaniemestä on mahdollista lähteä Sauvon melontareitille. Sauvon rantaviivaa pitkin kulkeekin mahtava kymmenien kilometrien mittainen melontareitti, jonka varrella on helppo tehdä säännöllisiä pysähdyksiä ja yöpyä luonnossa.

Sauvossa erityisesti luontoliikkujat, urheilijat ja metsänkävijät nauttivat sydämensä kyllyydestä harrastamisesta monipuolisissa maastoissa. Myös lapsille löytyy monenlaisia harrastusmahdollisuuksia ympäri Sauvoa, ja kunta pyrkiikin takaamaan jokaiselle lapselle ilmaisen harrastuksen. Harrastustoiminnan suunnittelussa on kuunneltu lasten toiveita, ja tarjolla on esimerkiksi koodausta, parkouria ja ilmaisutaitoa.

Aikuisille liikunnan iloa tarjoavat esimerkiksi Sauvon Syke, Sauvon Urheilijat ja jalkapalloseura Peimari United. Tekemistä löytyy myös kulttuurin ja kädentaitojen ystäville ja kulttuuritapahtumia järjestää esimerkiksi Sauvon Elävän Kulttuurin Seura. Sauvosta löytyy myös VPK.
